My home is brand new. Do I really need to be concerned with indoor air quality?
Absolutely. Energy conservation measures have led to airtight construction that can minimize the amount of fresh air entering and circulating within the home. Air pollutants build up and create a hazardous indoor living environment. A heat recovery ventilator (HRV), which acts as the lungs of a home, is a great way to introduce fresh air while increasing the efficiency of your furnace.

One of the most insidious pollutants found in most homes is chemicals. They are called volatile organic compound (VOCs) and usually take the form of paints, adhesives and household cleaners. They are also found in most new products such as furniture and carpets. Carbon filters are a cost effective way to filter out these type of impurities in your home’s air.
With the high efficiency furnaces on the market today, it is more important than ever that every furnace have a quality furnace filter to keep dirt out of the furnace so it does not plug up the secondary heat exchanger. Using a good quality filter and replacing or cleaning it regularly will go a long way in maintaining the efficiency of your furnace, reduce maintenance and prevent overheating in the winter and icing up of your air conditioner in the summer. We recommend a 2” or 5″ pleated filter that will provide lower resistance to airflow with its extended pleated surface area. This will help keep your furnace working at the efficiency level you paid for.
Mold & Bacteria Control
Another way to purify the air in your home is with the use of a UV light in your duct system. These devices use ultraviolet light to kill mold, bacteria and viruses that may be present in your home’s air. They are also the best tool for removing odors from your home.
